What was announced
Speaking at the Independence Day event in Bengaluru, the Chief Minister announced the Udyoga Sankalpa and Udyoga Nidhi schemes to boost jobs and entrepreneurship, under the slogan Young Karnataka - New India.
Under Udyoga Nidhi, entrepreneurs in 10 economically backward districts are to receive Rs 2,500 per month for every new job created, with a target of one lakh additional jobs. Another report describes it as an incentive of around Rs 2,500 per job per month for two years for industries that create new jobs.
What we do not know yet
- Which 10 districts are covered.
- Whether small businesses, startups or only larger industries qualify.
- How a new job is counted and verified, and whether there are wage or duration conditions.
- How and where to apply, and when payments start.
Who could benefit if it works as announced
The incentive is paid to the employer for each new job, not to the job seeker. Job seekers in the covered districts could benefit indirectly if more jobs are created. For private-sector job seekers the CM also announced a separate Udyoga Sethu initiative, for which we have no details yet.
Part of a larger jobs push
In the same speech the Chief Minister said around 72,000 government vacancies would be filled within six months. See our page on the Independence Day 2026 announcements for the full list.
