DAY-NRLM and Lakhpati Didi
Self-help groups, bank credit and livelihood support for rural women
The National Rural Livelihoods Mission organises rural women into self-help groups, gives them a revolving fund and training, and links them to bank loans at low interest for small enterprises. Under the Lakhpati Didi goal, the aim is for women in these groups to reach a yearly household income of at least Rs 1 lakh. In Karnataka the mission runs as Sanjeevini, through the Rural Development department. To join, speak to the gram panchayat or the local self-help group federation.
