Jal Jeevan Mission
A household tap connection with safe drinking water in every rural home
Jal Jeevan Mission aims to provide every rural household with a functional tap connection and safe drinking water, with the Centre and state sharing the cost. Works are planned and run by the village water committee and the Rural Drinking Water department, and people pay a small user charge in some places. Households without a tap connection can raise it with the gram panchayat. Progress and the target year are set by the Centre and have been extended in the past.
