National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) pensions

Central pensions for poor elderly, widows and disabled persons, and a one-time family benefit

NSAP gives pensions to poor people below the poverty line. Old age pension (IGNOAPS) is for people aged 60 and above, with the central share Rs 200 a month for ages 60 to 79 and Rs 500 for age 80 and above. Widow pension (IGNWPS) is Rs 300 a month for widows aged 40 to 79, and disability pension (IGNDPS) is Rs 300 a month for people aged 18 to 79 with more than 80 percent disability, Rs 500 from age 80. The National Family Benefit Scheme pays Rs 20,000 once to the family when the breadwinner aged 18 to 64 dies. States add their own top-up, so the amount you receive is higher in Karnataka. Eligibility: below poverty line households. How to apply: apply at the Nadakacheri or taluk office, or through Seva Sindhu, with age proof, BPL card and Aadhaar. Budget: no separate allocation figure was found. Amounts are from a published summary of the scheme; confirm the current amounts with the revenue office.
