Beti Bachao Beti Padhao

Campaign to improve the child sex ratio and girls' education

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was launched on 22 January 2015 at Panipat, Haryana, to stop sex-selective practices, improve the child sex ratio and keep girls in school. It is a campaign and awareness effort run by the Women and Child Development, Health and Education ministries, and it now sits under Mission Shakti. It does not pay cash to individuals; families benefit through awareness drives, enforcement of the law against sex determination, and school enrolment support, and it is often linked to Sukanya Samriddhi accounts. Contact the district Women and Child Development office or the Anganwadi worker.
