Digital India

Programme to bring government services online and expand internet access

Digital India was launched on 1 July 2015 to make government services available online, build digital infrastructure such as broadband in villages through BharatNet, and improve digital skills. It includes platforms such as DigiLocker, UMANG, e-Sign and the Common Service Centres. Every citizen benefits by getting services, documents and payments online without visiting offices. There is no individual application: create a DigiLocker account with an Aadhaar-linked mobile number, use the UMANG app, or visit a Common Service Centre. Check the Ministry of Electronics and IT for current programmes.
