Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS)

Free residential schools for Scheduled Tribe students, Classes 6 to 12

Eklavya Model Residential Schools give quality education to Scheduled Tribe children in remote tribal areas, with the aim of one school in every block that has more than 50 percent ST population and at least 20,000 tribal persons. The scheme began in 1997-98 and was revamped in 2018-19. Admission is to Class 6, with seats reserved mainly for ST students, and food, hostel and books are free. Admission is through the National Tribal Education Society entrance test; apply on the NESTS website or through the district tribal welfare office.
