Khelo India

Sports infrastructure, talent identification and scholarships for young athletes

Khelo India is the national programme to build a sports culture, started in 2016 and relaunched in 2017-18 as a central sector scheme. It funds sports infrastructure, Khelo India Games for school and university athletes, talent search, and scholarships under which selected athletes receive an annual amount of Rs 5 lakh for training and equipment. Young athletes and sports bodies benefit. Talented athletes are picked through the Khelo India Games and national tournaments, with details on the Khelo India portal; contact the district youth services and sports office for local centres.
