PM-AJAY (Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana)

Development of Scheduled Caste villages, skills and hostels

PM-AJAY merges three earlier schemes for Scheduled Castes. It funds basic facilities in villages with a large Scheduled Caste population, income-generating projects and skill training, and hostels for SC students. Beneficiaries are Scheduled Caste families and students, mostly in villages and districts with a high SC population. Projects are proposed by the state and approved by the Centre, so individuals usually apply through the social welfare department or the hostel or training institution. Budget figures change every year; check the Ministry of Social Justice portal.
