Arogya Sanjeevani Policy (standard health insurance)
Standard health insurance policy sold by all insurers, sum insured Rs 50,000 to Rs 5 lakh
Arogya Sanjeevani is a standard health insurance policy that the insurance regulator IRDAI asked every general and health insurer to offer from 1 April 2020. The terms are the same at every insurer, so it is easy to compare. It covers hospital stay, day-care procedures, treatment under AYUSH, costs shortly before and after hospital stay, and ambulance charges, with limits on room rent and a share of the bill paid by the policyholder. The sum insured can be chosen from Rs 50,000 up to Rs 5 lakh, and it can be taken for one person or as a family floater. There are waiting periods for existing illnesses and some listed conditions. Premiums differ from insurer to insurer. It is a private insurance product that you buy, not a free government scheme, and it is not the same as the Karnataka Arogya Sanjeevini scheme for state government employees. Check the policy wording and the IRDAI website, because limits and waiting periods can be revised.
